June 7, 2026. Xbox Games Showcase. Microsoft’s answer to all of it: the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition.
For the first time, it’s transparent.
OG Green — The Color That Started Everything
The hardware inside the X25 is identical to the standard Xbox Series X. 1TB storage, same performance specs. What changed is everything on the outside. A translucent OG Green chassis lets you see the internal components. Power it on and the X button glows green — the same green from the original Xbox startup screen in 2001. A 25th Anniversary logo sits on the front. This isn’t nostalgia. It’s a gesture of respect.
The controller follows. Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition. Same translucent OG Green finish. Original ABXY color-coded face buttons. Bumpers designed to honor the black and white buttons of the original “Duke” controller. A fully transparent battery door revealing the classic Xbox logo. Twenty-five years of design history compressed into one controller.
Price and Release
Estimated pricing: $749.99 for the console, $89.99 for the controller sold separately. November 2026 release. Both a console-and-controller bundle and a standalone controller will be available. Pre-order details are not yet confirmed. Attendees at the Xbox Games Showcase received the console for free.
The Reaction
The response was immediate. “Finally the green we’ve been asking for.” “I wanted this exact thing as a kid and now I can actually get it.” Xbox’s community hasn’t responded this uniformly in a while. There are dissenting voices — no internal spec upgrade, AA batteries in 2026 — and those criticisms are fair.
But a 25th anniversary limited edition has one job: make people remember where it started. The X25 does exactly that.
